Our Philosophy and Tenets
The Core Tenets of Health at Jax Health & Wellness Center
1. The Health Equation — Causes = Effects
Health is a symphony of interactions, not a single note. We view the body as an interconnected whole where everything affects everything, rather than through a reductionist, “organo-centric” lens that isolates organs or systems.
Our PERMS model (Physical, Emotional, Epigenetic, Environmental, Relational, Mental, Spiritual, and Shadow) ensures that every dimension of life is considered in evaluation and treatment.
Health is never about a single cause or symptom; it’s about the dynamic interplay of multiple causes and effects. We also recognize the importance of timeline — understanding how genetic, epigenetic, familial, cultural, and lifestyle factors from pre-conception through adulthood influence present health.
2. The Individualized, Whole-Person Approach
Because everything is connected, healing must be personalized and multi-dimensional. Each individual possesses unique biochemical and emotional individuality, requiring a holistic plan tailored to their specific needs.
We treat the person who has the disease, not the disease itself — addressing root causes rather than chasing isolated symptoms.
3. The Three-Phase Healing Process
True healing follows a natural progression — a rhythmic dance of removing, rebuilding, and rebalancing.
- Phase 1: Identify & Remove the Excesses
We eliminate what no longer serves health: biotoxins (viruses, bacteria, mold, parasites), environmental toxins (heavy metals, pesticides), mental clutter (limiting beliefs, overthinking), and emotional burdens (guilt, shame, blame). - Phase 2: Identify & Nourish the Deficiencies
We replenish what’s missing — nutrients, sleep, movement, love, belonging, and safety — restoring the body’s vitality through nourishment on all levels. - Phase 3: Identify & Balance the Incoherences
We bring coherence to systems that have fallen out of sync — the physical, mental, and emotional patterns that cause disharmony. Through trauma work, stress reduction, and systemic balancing, the individual is restored to alignment.
4. Root Cause and Symptom Integration
Symptoms are signals, not enemies. We address both the smoke (symptoms) and the fire (root causes) — the underlying mediators driven by nature (genetics, physiology) and nurture (environment, lifestyle, beliefs).
This dual approach provides both immediate relief and long-term transformation.
5. Prevention as Priority
It is always easier to prevent than to treat. Our focus on preventative strategies empowers patients to take proactive steps that safeguard health before dysfunction arises.
6. Nurturing Over Invasive Interventions
We emphasize non-invasive, nurturing treatments — the fundamentals of diet, movement, sleep, mindset, and self-care — before turning to more aggressive or intrusive interventions. Fundamentals form the foundation of lasting vitality.
7. Partnership Over Dictatorship
Healing is a collaborative partnership, not a top-down directive. We reject the “MDiety Complex,” which positions doctors as all-knowing authorities and patients as passive recipients.
Instead, we act as teachers, facilitators, and coaches, helping individuals reclaim autonomy over their body, health, and happiness. True medicine empowers, not controls.
8. Health as a Dynamic Continuum
Health is not static; it is a living process in constant flux. It cannot be captured by a simple “good” or “bad.”
Through functional testing and continuous evaluation, we identify imbalances long before conventional diagnostics recognize disease. This helps us view health as a continuum — where “dis-ease” begins as subtle dysfunction long before pathology sets in.
9. The Vitalistic Principle — The Power That Made the Body Heals the Body
Our bodies hold a wisdom far beyond comprehension. With 50–100 trillion cells and hundreds of thousands of reactions occurring each second, the intelligence of the body is awe-inspiring.
Healing is not imposed from the outside but expressed from above down, inside out — from the spiritual to the physical. When we remove blocks and nurture the right environment, innate intelligence restores balance naturally.
We embody the affirmation:
“The power that made the body, heals the body.”
“The power that made the body, heals the body.”
All healing is, ultimately, self-healing.
10. The Spiritual Dimension — From Self-Actualization to Self-Transcendence
The physical body is the vehicle for spiritual unfolding. Drawing from psychology and wisdom traditions, we honor two essential dimensions of human growth:
- Self-Actualization: The drive to become all that we are capable of being — physically, emotionally, mentally, and relationally. It’s the journey of personal fulfillment and growth for its own sake, not for external validation.
- Self-Transcendence: The movement beyond self-interest — unlearning the false identities of roles and labels to discover peace, purpose, and unity with something greater. This is the spiritual dimension that transcends and includes all others.
